Where were many of us in 1977? We were anxiously feeling the winds of revolutionary Iran, and wondering what to do with our lives and where to go; very little time for philosophical and spiritual musing.

In around the same time, a young American Jew started his search for meaning in the Far East. The monk in the monastery handed him an article by Ellen Willis which had been published in 1975 in RollingStone magazine. The monk, a Jew who had become a Buddhist, suggested that he read the article and go check out his own heritage first in Jerusalem.

I am not sure if you could get RollingStone in Tehran in 1977, but here is your chance to read this fantastic article, the journey of a Jewish soul in search of his roots. The article is long, but you don’t have to read it in one sitting.

I am actually curious to know if any one had seen this in Rolling Stones back in Iran, please let me know.
